This first entry in the How to Fly the P 47 series features an Air force Captain instructing four Lieutenant trainees on the basic techniques of flying the P 47.
Using a classroom setting, the Captain describes, in detail, the flight characteristics of the "Thunderbolt", including the size and dimensions of the plane, the speed, power, fuel tanks, gas consumption, service ceiling, the functions and design of the propeller, turbo mechanism
and super charger regulator, use of turbo and throttle, the hydraulically powered landing gear and flaps, armored protection, and fire power. A thorough examination of the cockpit and all operation details follows with the assurance that the pilot will not fly until he has mastered the flight techniques "blindfolded".
