Zu Neuen Ufern (Toward New Shores): Around 1840, a popular London singer is sent to prison in Australia after she allows herself to be convicted for a check forgery actually committed by her boyfriend. Detlef Sierck, later to be known as the highly-praised American film director Douglas Sirk, directed this film, which made a star of Zarah Leander. Music by Ralph Benatzky; co-starring Willy Birgel and Viktor Staal. B&W, 105 minutes, Germany, 1937, German dialogue.
