The Ethnographic Ensemble was founded by Povilas and Daile Mataitis to preserve the ancient rounds Sutartiniai and other polyphonic folk songs of old Lithuania. The beauty and importance of their work is widely acknowledged across the country. This colorful documentary features hauntingly-beautiful, archaic melodies performed in the regions of their origin and set against authentic traditional backgrounds. The narrator explains in English the significance of the more complex songs, and makes the historic Lithuanian peasant culture accessible to everyone.
