Product Description

Sterilization in America! A dark controversial period in history is explored in this powerful, yet sensitive and touching, 1934 Hollywood drama. When this film was released, mandatory sterilization for the "unfit" was the law of the land in 27 states, and its theme is strongly anti-eugenic. "Tomorrow's Children" tells the bizarre story of a young woman whom the state wants to sterilize because her family comes from three generations of "idiots", cripples, criminals, and alcoholics, and though she is strong healthy, and by all accounts “normal”, the city welfare board fears her children may turn out to be "defective". A young Sterling Holloway plays a supporting role and provides well-timed comic relief in a film that will have you on the edge of your seat.
