The Lithuanian Song Festival 1975 DVD
Product Description
This documentary focuses on a spectacular event that occurs once every five years. For the 1975 Festival, about 33,000 people flocked to the Zalgiris Stadium in Vilnius to enjoy traditional folk songs and intricate dances by men, women and children of all ages, performed to an overwhelming chorus of 20,000 voices. The English narration in this Soviet production is impeccable, but the long focus on Lenin's statue and the irrelevant look at the Lazdynas suburb just to show off new Soviet housing projects remind us of where this film was made. The Soviet attempt at media manipulation is almost as interesting as the heartfelt and compelling performances of the Festival itself.
