Through Enemy Eyes: A Newsreel History Of The Third Reich At War, Volume 12 DVD Review by Blaine Taylor
Volume 12 Thirteen Newsreels with English Subtitles Nov. 3, 1943-March 22, 1944

In this excellent grouping, the viewer witnesses Dr. Wilhelm Frick inaugurated as Reich Protector of Bohemia and Moravia at Prague, Hitler decorating U-boat commanders, the German occupation of Kos Island, Armaments Minister Dr. Albert Speer addressing arms workers at a Berlin plant, and a Nazi Cossack brigade attacking Bosnian Red Partisans, plus Field Marshal Kesselring inspecting German troops in Italy.

In addition, we see the Soviet advance on Krivoi Rog repulsed, home front activities within the Third Reich, a Viennese homecoming for Luftwaffe ace Werner Nowotny, and Hitler addressing Nazi Old Fighters at Munich’s Lowenbrau Beer Hall.

Soldiers on leave watch ice hockey in Berlin, supplies are delivered to the Arctic Front, tanks and flak repel the Allies in Italy, and Dr. Speer and Grand Adm. Donitz review naval exercises, plus American GI POWs march into German-occupied Rome.

We also see RFSS Himmler inspecting Muslim SS volunteers, Germans battling back the Red Army at the Dnieper Bend, and the German occupation of the Greek Islands of Leros and Samos. Finally, there are scenes of U-boat patrols in the Indian Ocean, the Allies bombing Monte Cassino Monastery, street fighting in Kerch, and much more!
