To commemorate the tenth anniversary of the 1917 revolution, Eisenstein re-created the events of that October in their original setting with an enormous cast. He used montage and a realistic yet mythological perspective to capture events like the storming of the Winter Palace, creating an unforgettable film. This re-released version--featuring sound effects and music composed by Dmitry Shostakovich--was directed by Grigori Alexandrov in 1967. Directed and written by Sergei Eisenstein and Grigori Alexandrov; music by Dmitry Shostakovich; featuring Nikandrov, N. Popov, and Boris Livanov.
