Lithuanian World Song Festival 1998 (Song Day) DVD
Song day is the open-air choral concert of thousands of singers in Vingis Park. In the first Song Day in Kaunas in 1924, the singers in the joint Lithuanian Song Festival choir numbered 3,000 and belonged to 86 choirs. Later Lithuanian Festivals attracted more and more participants. 1960 marked a milestone with the erection of the Vingis Park Music Bowl which, with its excellent acoustics, has been the venue ever since. Such is its capacity that in 1994, to commemorate the 70-year span of the Lithuanian Song Festival, a multitude of 13,000 singers took the stage. On July 6, 1998, 11,000 singers, choir directors and conductors performed in the fifteenth Song Day concert under the guidance of Artistic Director, Professor Petras Bingelis.
