Jackie Robinson plays himself in this wonderful docudrama about the first African-American to play major league baseball. This film traces Robinson's life; covering his college football career at UCLA, his military service in WW2, his minor league career with the Montreal Royals and culminating with his breaking the color barrier to play in the Major Leagues with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. Also starring Ruby Dee in one of her earliest film roles as Jackie's wife Rachel. Directed by Alfred E. Green.
