Part 1 - Stalin's early years, from his entry into a seminary as a young boy to his struggle with Trotsky for control of the Communist Party; covers the industrialization of Russia, World War 1, the collapse of the Romanov dynasty, and the Civil War following the Bolshevik coup. Part 2 - Presents a biography of Stalin's later years, covers his economic, domestic, and foreign policies. Also includes sequences on the German invasion of 1941, World War 2, and the conferences of Tehran, Yalta, and Potsdam. Narrated by Michael Redgrave. United Kingdom, 1974, B&W, 60 minutes.
