Product Description

Hello, my name is Otto G. Stark and I am a mid 20th century architect.

Architecture doesn't mean just sitting at a desk and operating a computer. One must immerse oneself in the whole experience. One must see a project through from beginning to end. Following through on all details, no matter how small, is of utmost importance. Computers don't have the artistic touch that the architect can provide. You must immerse yourself in the space, interior and exterior, and make sure it is functional as well as artistically pleasing for all those who will be within.

Contained in my autobiography are stories highlighting my career, working my way from architectural designer for the army security agency, then to Skidmore Owings and Merrill (working on such projects as O'Hare Airport), to the head designer of the notable C.F. Murphy Associates Architects in Chicago (working on many projects including the original Blue Cross Blue Shield Building at 55 W. Wacker, Chicago), and later heading a successful design company of my own, Stark Associates Architects.

I hope that my stories will give guidance and pleasure to those who read it, especially to those who hope to pursue a career in architecture.

USA, 2017, 92 pages, 8 ½ x 11 perfect bound softcover, 92 pages, including over 200 color and B&W photos, sketches, renderings, layouts and illustrations of my projects, English Language.
