The Devil's Bride BLU-ray (Velnio Nuotaka) Arunas Zebriunas 1974
Product Description
Velnio Nuotaka (English title: "The Devil's Bride"), released in 1974, is a landmark Lithuanian-Soviet musical film directed by Arūnasebriūnas. Adapted from Kazys Boruta's novel "Baltaragis's Mill", it blends rock opera elements with Lithuanian folklore, surreal imagery, and themes of love, redemption, and the supernatural. The story follows the devil Pinčiukas, who falls for a mortal woman, leading to chaotic, folkloric antics involving rituals, demons, and a longing for heaven. Composed by Viačeslavas Ganelinas with cinematography by Algimantas Mockus, it's celebrated for its vibrant visuals, wailing guitar ballads, and influences from Western rock (e.g., Rolling Stones) amid Soviet-era constraints. It was the first Soviet musical, a cult hit in Lithuania, and praised for its originality despite Russian cinematic echoes.
